Has anyone ever got a Gov. grant?

Krystal3 started this conversation

HI.. My name is Krystal I am a 20 year old single mother of two. Recently I have been trying to get my life on a better track not only for me but mainly for my kids. I am for now temporarily disabled although I was just recently informed it will probably be perminate. I have been looking to get a house so that my familly is in a more stable situation but have come to be informed that from all the medical bills I've been getting but shouldnt be I do not have good credit and will probably not be able to get a loan. I have been looking for sometime now to find a grant(anything) that will help me in buying a home and work with the little income i do get. So if anyone has any information on how I can do this please let me know. Also if anyone has had luck on getting grants please let me know. My hopes for believing in grants are slim to nothing anymore.. Thank you for reading my story and any information will help!

Thanks for your comforting word, I'm getting use to it now,  grieving process has been different than I thought it would be, I seen her buried but somehow I kinda blocked it out, and looked at it like she was on a long trip, and then I kinda shook it off, she isn't returning, and then I got mad at her, I didn't understand why, I just did, then I got lonely and just shut myself out, and just felt hopeless, sorry for myself, scared, and that I wanted to know why God left me here after taking my parents young, got mad at him, then I hit rock bottom, then I seen things in a different light, I have the ability to heal by my knowledge.  There is such an urge in me to go forward with a project I have been working on that I'm investigating and seeing how to bring it about, it is a whole lot of planning, agencies, meetings, It is draining me but if all of it goes as planned it will help homelessness in my area.  Everybody says it is a big project, too big for me to handle with just myself.  Everyday I seem to get closer and closer to answers I didn't have earlier.  I agree it is taking alot of time to get it perfected, I am asking for a Prayer chain from all of you for me, it says in the bible, when two or more come together to ask for the same thing it shall come to pass.  I'm a Penecostal woman born and raised, and I believe his words, they are what keeps me pushing forward, and not giving up on myself.

Hi there Pamela19's, sorry it took me a bit to answer you, I'm trying to meet my deadline to find scholarships and grants for college before May gets here.  Here is the Information you requested about grants for the disabled in Alabama.  http://www.hud.gov/local/al/homeownership/buyingprgms.cfm  also consider the GOOD NEIGHBOR NEXT DOOR since you were a nurse, you get a special discount, if you fall under Emergency Medical tech. http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/reo/goodn/gnndabot.cfm

Yes I'm also disabled and my boyfriend of 14 years has pacemaker in his heart and he is disabled as well . We don't get much help just social security and no food stamps were over forty dollars.  My family is really struggling I have a 10 years old daughter to take care of with no money.  We almost just lost our house.  I was working part time just lost my job.  I really need help.

As for situations of your finances, there is help out there to lower your finances to 60%, meaning they make the calls get them lowered while at the same time here in Michigan can get a grant of $5,000 to help give you better scoring or eliminate it all together if it was a few thousand dollars of debt, again I'm getting this kind of help, and again I will be looking into what is local and statewide, and begin building a website with the information.  I lost everything I'm rebuilding my life, and with me being in the right places, I'm GET-R-DONE.

I went to a meeting just yesterday and I will be going to another one Tommorrow, I found out that I'm getting awarded $12,000 plus a $3,000 downpayment just for being disabled,  other options of other award in the near future.  And here is a twist for you, thousands of dollars of grant money was turned back in because not alot of information was sent out there for the public.  I was asked to put that information out there as was everybody in my meeting be what ever means we had telling people, I'm doing it on a Website, so that this money is used for the needy and it wont be just turned back in at the end of the year.   Your not looking in the right places, it doesn't cost you to get help, it take knowing the right agencies/foundations. And believe it or not there is forgiveness loans after a period of 5 years or 15 years depending on which plan you choose, or a grant that pays to a certain amount depending on your situation.  There is guarantee loans and FHA doesn't look at credit scores, like other Banks do there the Federal Housing Authority agency. I live in Michigan so I will get a combination Grant called MSHDA-FHA/assisting disabled.

To look for the grants go to www.hud.gov  my mother got a grant that fixed everything in the house and the sidewalks and driveway.  That was a few years back, she passed away in 2005.

I think with the grants you really have to watch the rules. Not only to ensure you are eligible, but to also make sure you follow the rules. Following the rules for applying for the grant is where a lot of people fail at this. The site listed at http://www.mytowntalks.com/freemoney actually helps you walk through the grant process and provides tools to help you complete the grant applications properly. I have signed up for this as its only a couple of bucks, but I'm still waiting on my package so I can't really comment yet. Hopefully it will work out good as I'm really starting to get desperate.
